I have had my rabbit Gandalf for over six years now. I got him from an acquaintance and he was already house trained. He has been great almost the whole time I have had him. However recently he has started to pee and poop on the carpet in a very specific spot. As soon as he gets out of his cage he goes straight there just to go to the bathroom. He has had no change in environment, diet, no new pets, and the cleanliness of his cage is not a factor. I don’t believe he is neutered but I also didn’t think that was an issue since he has been potty trained for so many years. He did this once before at a House I was living at but I ended up moving soon after and the issue was resolved once we were in a new place. Now that he has chosen to go to the bathroom all over the carpet and I am not moving anytime soon I am at a total loss of what to do! Please help!

You said it was just a specific spot?
You could try placing a litter tray there seeing as he’s obviously chosen it as a place to go!

If you haven’t managed to remove the smell of his pee (no matter how faint) it becomes a remembered pee sit die them

I’d say to put an extra litter box to that specific spot too! Hopefully he won’t pick another fave spot to do his business.

If you don’t want to do that (especially if the spot is not suitable to host a litter box), you can take out the pee smell by pressing and dabbing with a cloth moistened with water & white vinegar. It will smell faintly of vinegar, but it should be enough to make him desist if every time he gets there it doesn’t smell like him
