HELP ME! I found a lump on my rabbit’s belly

Hello everybody! I am very much panicking and this was the only place I could turn for help at the moment. I know it is a long one but PLEASE read my post. I am desperate. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Today I found a lump on my 7 year old, female (not spayed), Holland Lop’s lower to mid abdomen. It seemed to be about 1 cm big and it was quite hard. When I touched it she started oking a bit, I take that as she was uncomfortable. I’ve noticed that she has been drinking an exceedingly large amout of fluid recently, has been much more hungry, asking for more treats but refusing to eat hay, been exponentially more active somehow, and refusing to sleep on her abdomen. Could this be cancer? If so, how serious is cancer in rabbits? How quick does it spread? Here is my big problem, I really want to take her to a specialist but my family refuses to, they went into rage when and I started crying, saying that death comes with animals, that she is only a rabbit and apparantly her time has come and will not spend more money on her. What can I do or tell them so we can take her to a doctor? Schedule an appointment and steal money from my their back? Please, any advice will help. I’m pretty much willing to do anything for my bunny. I love her more than anything.

Unfortunately because your rabbit is unspayed, it sounds like it could be cancer, but we cannot diagnose your bun or tell you how serious it is, as we are not vets. The fact that she is drinking excessively and is hungry but not eating hay are also concerning symptoms. A vet would be the only person who could diagnose what is going on. If it is reproductive cancer, they may be able to do an emergency spay to remove a lot of it. In any case, this definitely sounds like she needs to see a vet.

I’m very sorry that your family isn’t cooperative. 🙁 Do you think they would be willing to work out a way for you to pay them back?

Is the lump near the surface on her abdomen? It could be a mammary tumor. Reproductive cancers in unspayed females is common, but it isn’t limited to just uterine cancer. I agree with Dana that the other symptoms are concerning.

Do you have a rabbit shelter/rescue nearby? Perhaps they would know of some resources to help with vet bills.

Thank you for all the help. That is very concerning. Her lump is coming from within from what I saw, nothing is really visible on the surface. Unfortunately, I don’t really have any rabbit rescue centers near me but I’ll try my best to get her to a specialist somehow.
