I’m a first time rabbit owner and I’m having some trouble pinning down what type of rabbit I have. Her name is Fiver!

My guess, with the round face, Holland Lops cross.
Very cute baby, as she matures you may see some change in her features that will give you a better guess as her breed(s).

She does look like a holland lop mix. Looks like something else too…not just Holland Lop…It’s hard to tell. She is very cute!

I fell in love with her as soon as she was put in my arms =3 I’ve never owned a rabbit before but I rescued a guinea pig a while ago (they’re currently living together until I can find Fiver a suitable cage) and I’ve been making sure I’ve got my facts straight so I can take care of her the best I can.

Is she going to spend a lot of time in the cage or be free roam? There are cages you can get that are 2 levels or more and you can buy play pens that can attach to them so they have a “yard” to play in. When I got my first rabbit, I wasted a lot of money trying to figure what living situation would make him happy and me guilt free. I first got a cage from a pet store. They are over priced and way too small for a rabbit in my opinion. I didn’t know any better so I bought one anyway. He spend 2 weeks in that cage. Then he outgrew it! Then I got him an xpen. He is still using his xpen but is outgrowing it too! Now, I am trying to decide how to build him a cage. lol. I have spend a lot of money on my rabbits and I am not even using some of the things I bought. Before you spend money on a cage, I would click on “Bunny Info” at the top of this page and click on “great habitats”…if you haven’t already. There are some really nice set ups there that were posted by people who are very rabbit savvy. I’ve learned my lesson so that’s what I am doing lol. Good luck to you and your new bunny. They are so fun to have! We’ll just see if you stick to having just one after being on this site! lol

Unfortunately she won’t have free reign of the house so I’m planning on building her a cage that will be big enough for her to run around in a bit and have a few levels for her to hop up on. I live in a somewhat small apartment but I’ve rearranged my room to make space for her to be comfortable!

Looks like a holland lop to me! That color – black tortoiseshell – is extremely common in hollands, so that’s another clue beyond just her head shape and ears. She could be a cross, or she could just be “pet quality” rather than “show quality”. I’ve seen pet quality hollands that look just like her.

Well it sounds like you have a good plan for her!

I agree with Elrohwen, maybe she is a pet quality holland lop. That makes sense to me.
