        Hi guys,

I know I posted a gi stasis thread before but I am at a loss.

So patches has been in gi stasis for a week, we’ve done all the tricks and he poops his regular size poop but only a couple of times a day, very lethargic and will not eat on his own. The vet says its rare that bunnies get clogs which I can agree that it is rare but I feel like something is up. I know bunnies rely on their bacteria to digest food and patch was on chlorphenocol(i think that is how you spell it) to get rid of a cold he had, after a couple of days is when he went into stasis so we think all his bad bacteria is gone and of course I was doing probiotics but apparently the vet decides to tell me that brand doesn’t do anything and to use a different brand a week later (today we start the new one) so of course i am already emotionally drained and now annoyed because it wasn’t helping him so we got a new brand today-begins with an f. I kind of want an X-ray to see if anything else is wrong or like he got stasis from a blockage  the same time he was on the bad antibiotics so it makes it look like its the antibiotics fault. And then she goes on to tell me that the dose of metacam I was giving him was way too much and i might have damaged his kidneys even though the dose was approved ( i know annoying so I want him to get a blood test to make sure he is okay). And now he isn’t on any pain meds per doctors instructions

What do you guys think its going on? or what else should i do?

Is this the same vet who he’s been seeing throughout all of this? If so, i’m wondering why they would prescribe that amount if its too much to give to him. I say go ahead with the X-Ray. It will at least give you peace of mind if it turns out there isn’t a blockage. Same with the blood test, just to make sure nothing else is going on that could be causing all of this. I hope it gets better soon

Well they usually see him but another vet prescribed him the cholophenocol and then i took him back to my regular vet and thats when they discovered stasis.
I think i might just try and find a different vet to take him to because the vet today was very rude to me about my care with him.
            Thank you

Oh okay, that makes more sense! I hate it when vets are rude. It’s like, we all want the same thing here, to get Patches healthy again. I hope the new vet will be a lot nicer.

He still doesn’t want to eat on his own besides a little hay. He is at the ER and will be there till tomorrow.

So his blood work came back normal and they did X-rays today and showed that his tummy is distended from all the critical care (no blockage) and not too much gas is in his gut. He still isn’t pooping and they will take X-rays in the morning to see what has changed-everything else looked normal on the X-rays. And they stopped feeding him so maybe he will pass the food. The vet says reglan won’t work well and that she will try to get her hands on a different motility drug in the morning, but he was never put on one which still amazes me.

They say he is just in gut dysbiosis from the antibiotics, so all his good bacteria is gone, but I don’t know what else to do. He’s on Florentero to restore his gut.

What do you guys think? Has anyone had this issue? Why would he have all this food in his tummy but not passing it to the intestines?
