        Hi all,

Today I noticed Ollie’s ear is balding a little bit..it has a patch and I thought it was normal until I noticed little flakes. I tried to pull out the flakes out with my fingers and I ended up pulling his ear hair too!! I did it a few more times and every time, I his hairs would come out with the flake. His ear hair is falling out   I tried pulling the hair on his body and nothing came out, so he is not shedding. Its just on the ears.

has this happened to any of your buns? any idea what this could be? its happening on his other ear as well. i’ve included a picture. the picture looks worse than it does in person just because the brightness is so high. im really worried

I know my lop has had that too. It was just dry skin for her. Make sure it doesn’t get agitated. Sometimes it can happen during a molt. Just make sure to monitor it and if it doesn’t get better, you can go to the vet to see what they think. If their air is dry around you, you might want to get a humidifier to help moisten the air, because this time of year is so dry.

Thank you for your answer! I live in Miami so it’s very humid here so that’s not it, I sent a photo to my vet so hopefully she can help me detect the problem!

Thor’s had the same thing happen to her at the beginning of a molt. She starts shedding on her ears first Her fur looked much the same as in the photo, just a little flakey with new fur coming in underneath. Most likely it’s normal. But if you see him scratching more, it wouldn’t hurt to get him tested for mites.
