Okay, my 4 year old Holland Lop (Bonbon) was due to have a possible first litter dec. 27th she is now on day 37 (her poops are normal and frequent and large, she pees regularly, i took a stethoscope to her abdominal region and heard normal gi movement, her symptoms are extremely engorged firm stomach, loud teeth grinding when she lays, excessive sleeping, infrequent wheezing, she made a huge nest, haystache and pulled fur, stopped eating day 29 continued eating afterward. My parents refuse to send her to the vet, i dont have the funds to do so despite working. Im thinking she has bloat but this has been going on for a week and bloat kills way sooner than that. The other rule in is that she has kits undelivered and will absorbe them. Need advice ASAP. Thanks

Since the topic of intentional breeding is prohibited on Binkybunny, many members, including myself, are not knowledgable on the expectations and complications expected with pregnancy unfortunately.

If it is bloat, you most likely only have hours to get to a vet. Bloat is very severe and life threatening. If to the best of your knowledge, you believe your rabbit needs immediate medical attention, I recommend being direct with your parents, like I know more about rabbit health than you  and if I listen to you and do nothing, my pet is going to die.

I dont know besides nesting what symptoms you listed might be expected to coincide with pregnancy or labor, or the timeline for labor in general, but when did the gas-centered symptoms begin and when has she last eaten and pooped?

If she is otherwise acting normally, it probably isn’t an emergency. Are you positive on the dates? Perhaps she isn’t as far along as you think she is. If she is, then we’re talking retained kits. Doing nothing is risky. They may be resorbed… or they may become septic. I would ask you regular vet for advice as soon as you can. They may be able to prescribe something to induce labor.

I recommend you ask at rabbitsonline if you haven’t already.  There are members there experienced with kindling rabbits.

I hope she will be okay. I don’t know what else to suggest other then the vet. If there is a experienced local breeder nearby, maybe they can advise you?

I agree with JG. You may find someone with more experience to give advice at rabbitsonline. I do urge you to seek advice from your vet though. You wouldn’t want a “small” problem to develop into a “big” problem.
