Recently I’ve been noticing a tiny spot on my bunny’s bed that looks like it could be blood. Honestly I’m not sure what it is, it could also be a spot of dark pee (she’s litter trained but occasionally goes in her bed). It’s always just a tiny little stain and I’ve seen 3 of them. She seems completely fine otherwise. She is just over 3 months old… is this a bunny period? I’m not sure if this is something I should take her to the vet for because she seems completely fine. I tried to attach a photo of the spot but this forum isn’t really working.

Don’t ignore it, I would definitely take her to be checked, girl bunnies often get cancer if not spayed, she seems bit young for this, better safe than sorry

For help with pix, please PM me or one of the other leaders.

Suspected blood in pee can be tested by dripping a littlle bit of hydrogen peroxide on the spot. If it’s blood, it will foam a lot. Otherwise it won’t foam.

Bunnies don’t have periods. They can get a urinary tract infection though. If a bun has a UTI you will often see the bun straining to pee and trying to pee often.

Uterine cancer is common in unspayed female rabbits, as Phil says, but it tends to affect does around the age of 3-4 years.

If you suspect your bunny is peeing blood, you need to take her to a vet. It doesn’t matter if she has no other symptoms – blood itself is a big enough concern.
