  Our 6 month old mini Rex Huey has become sexually mature. We do to want to have him neutered so I’m looking for advice on how to deal with a horny little rabbit!!
  He has started to become attached to my forearm, and has scented it with his chin!! How do I remove the scent from my forearm??
  We also want to get something for him to have his way with, cushions, soft toys etc! Does anyone have any good or useful ideas that might help??
  I’d really appreciate everyone’s help, we don’t want the poor little dude to lose his balls, but his humping is beginning to become a problem

  He is definitely at the age for that sort of behavior. There is really no way to control the behavior, other than neutering. My Mini-Rex started humping everything (including arms) around that age and getting him neutered completely stopped the behavior. In the meantime, you can try to re-direct the humping to a stuffed bunny, this worked when I was trying to bond my two boys and one was humping the other.
  
  Neutering is really the best option for a house rabbit. It calms down the hormones and makes everyone (bunny and people) happier in the long run.

  LPT is right, it calms the hormones down A LOT – and he’ll also be healthier if you do have him neutered

  Honestly, he doesn’t realize his is losing his balls…all he feels is sexual frustration. Only humans have the fear of their animal “losing their balls”. Not your rabbit, your dog, your cat, etc…You need not feel bad about doing this, it’s the right thing to do.

  It really would be for the best to have your little guy neutered. He’s not going to realize what happened and he’s going to be a much happier bun in the end. He can live a long happy life without the urge to use all those little hormones.
  
  I don’t think there’s much you can really do for this behavior except have the bun neutered.

  I agree as well that neutering is the best option for him. Un-altered rabbits are also more difficult to live with, as their hormones drive them to territorial behaviors like spraying, marking habits, and sometimes defensive aggression. Ultimately the decision is up to you, but here we encourage spaying/neutering once the bunny is old enough.

  Not much you can do. You can try redirecting him to a stuffed toy. Washing your arm isn’t going to do anything. You are his and he is declaring so.

  Just to echo everyone’s sentiments, I would also encourage neutering in this situation. Neutering isn’t always necessary. Sometimes you’ll have an incredibly well-behaved, non-humpy male, but more often than not, it’s the best thing to do. I will also caution you, spraying urine is a possibility as well. If he’s exerting his dominance by humping, it’s possible that urine marking will follow shortly after.
  
  Have you spoken to your vet regarding neutering? Does your vet not recommend it be done?

  Sitich started doing this one day, and at that point I still thought he was a she because that’s what my friend who gave him to me told me. I found out differently that day. lol. My arm was crazy scratched up, and he liked to hop up behind me on the couch and munch on my hair when I wasn’t looking. He did this for a couple weeks, and I gave a stuffed frog that I gave him to let it out. It honestly did seem to calm down a lot after a few weeks. I did have him neutered and since then the only time I’ve seen him hump anything is when I was starting to the bonding process with Mumbles, and now I never see it.(I didn’t have Mumbles when he first started the humping behavior)
  
  I was terrified too when I took both my buns in to get neutered, but honestly they both acted like nothing had happened to them. Mumbles no longer marks his territory like he was doing, which I am so grateful for. lol.

  Hey, definitely understand your reluctance at getting him neutered but it really is advisable. I live in the UK too and there is a certified vet in Upminster, Essex that you might feel more comfortable taking him to. You can find their website at http://www.wylievets.com
  
  At the end of the day it is your decision, but this would lessen the humping!
