Rain ate some gum. It was just a little off the top of the stick, luckily I caught her. What should I do to get it out of her system??? Please help! I have her on hay and veggies right now. Also her vet is incovienently out of town at the moment. What should I do? Also please nobody start shaming me and my family because we do our best to keep everything out of her reach but sometimes things just happen to be there for her.

The hay and veggies should help keep her tummy moving as it should. If it was just a little bit, she should be okay. My rabbits have eaten bits of plastic or rubber and it must have just passed through their system. I remember a BB rabbit from ages ago that was notorious for getting into things like gum or candy.
Just keep a close eye like you are doing.

Update: Luckily, the second I got her in her pen she went straight to her litter box and started eating. I think everything was pooped out instantly. I saw a couple of poops that were darker and wetter with no hay particles in them, which I believe is where the gum ended up. Overall I think she’ll be okay. I’m a little concerned she’s pooping so much though. They are all normal poops but there is so much of it!

Oh Rain, I hope she gets thru just fine…. and most likely she shld… please don’t worry about the mobs coming for ya, things really do just happen… and bunnies have such an intense nose for SUGAR! If it makes you feel more at ease, in any way at all, I caught BunBun chewing a hole straight into a bag of sugar and eating pure sugar straight off the kitchen floor just two weeks ago! Luckily, I was in the kitchen baking at the time and caught her quickly but she must’ve had quite the sugar high! Especially the way she binkyed away when I shooed her off it! Now the mobs can come for me instead ?. Keep us posted how she is doing please.

Update: I caught Rain sitting in the corner of her pen and slightly grinding her teeth. She seemed hunched up and uncomfortable. Then later when she was trying to relax and stretch out she kept getting up like she couldn’t find the right position. I’m confused if she has gas or not because she has pooped a lot today and they are normal poops. Also she is eating like normal.

This is a typical way rabbits with gas pains behave. From what I’ve heard it’s very uncomfortable for rabbits. I’d try some gas drops and a belly massage. There’s a good video on YouTube called: how to help a rabbit with gas pains.

                  Get well soon Rain!

I’ll be sure to give her some gas drops then. I think the gum may have caused a little bit of issues but not too much that it’s extremely worrying. I think she also ate it with the wrapper so that’s something else that may have caused it. But I would think the wrapper would stop the gum from sticking to something after she swallowed it. Thank you Ellie!
