I’m new to BinkyBunny but this seems to be the absolute best site I have come across so far!  (As we speak my bunny is Binky-ing around her play pen since the loves the sound of me typing on the key board!)  I just got my first bunny after extensive research on having a house bunny.  She has a large cage and my boyfriend and I built her a pen thing that attaches to it so she can run around the middle of my room when I am doing homework/on the computer etc. (Btw it is so funny how she keeps binky-ing whenever i type…)

I go to UC Berkeley, and my bunny’s name is Cassandra Bella (aka Cassy).  She is four months old and a mini rex (I love her to death)

WELCOME NiTETYRGRESS!!    I’m so pleased to see you hear?  Did you have to download Mozilla to get it to work?

You may also get an email that I edited your post.  I just added hyperlinks to your links to make it easier.

I do not know if with the browser you’re usingyou have the ability to see the full toolbar in the textbox, but if you do, you can hyperlink your links by clicking on the little icon that shows a globe with a little chain link.  (usually next to an anchor symbol)  There are two next two each other.  The one on the left creates a hyperlink and the one on the right takes it away – (keeps what you typed, but doesn’t hyperlink it)

Anyway, your bunny is so cute, and I’m so glad you researched prior to getting a bunny. They are alot more work than many people think, so Cassy is lucky to have you!

At  four months, she is reaching her "naughty" stage.  Don’t be alarmed if her personality makes some changes.  She may get more territorial, even grunt or lunge in certain circumstances.  She may also begin marking more.

Are you planning on getting her spayed?  You may or may not know this, but even if she never gets territorial, or starts marking up the place with pungent you know what,   Unspayed females have a high cancer rate (of their reproductive organs)

I do plan on getting her spay, she has started marking more (she just piddled on my bed =~.~= I dont blame her though =)  Do you know a good place to get her spay in the Bay Area?

The place that I go is VCA BAY AREA ANIMAL HOSPITAL.   Dr. Harvey.   She’s a known rabbit savvy vet, and helps out a ton with the House Rabbit Society.  There are other great vets there too that know about bunnies, I just have been with Dr. Harvey for so long and she knows the history of my bunnies.

It’s located on Shattuck, near Telegraph.   Not far from the Berkeley border.

I used to go to Irving Street Vet hospital in San Francisco.  Very good rabbit savvy vets there when I went, but it was very expensive in comparison to VCA.

Thank you so much!  And not that it affects anything, but how much does it cost?

I don’t know what it cost there because my very first bunny was the only one I actually had to spay. The rest were rescue bunnies, and they were already altered.    But the cost at what i considered to be the expensive vet was $250 bucks –  That was years ago.

I’d give VCA a call.  IF you find it is over you budget, you can ask if they can recommend a spay and neuter clinic. Sometimes those are much cheaper – but you have to be sure they are rabbit savvy, as neutering bunnies is very different than cats and dogs.

The travel might be a pain for you, but the Palo Alto low cost spay/neuter clinic is quite good and quite a bit cheaper than the standard vet offices, $50 for non-residents.   Their web site is here http://www.city.palo-alto.ca.us/police/animal/health/neuter.html
