So I worry about Frank all day while I’m at work, I don’t have AC so I leave him frozen water bottles and put the oscillating fan on him while I’m gone.  Yesterday was like 90 degrees with somewhere around a million percent humidity so I actually took some sick time and left work early to check on Frank and to go buy a window AC unit for him.  When I got home Frank was lying on his back panting (Nowhere near any of his water bottles).  Panic.  I wet a paper towel and rubbed his little ears with it and blew on them.  He wasn’t getting any better after about five minutes so i finally located a vet in my area that sees bunnies.  Only like 10 minutes from my house.  The vet said to get him in ASAP.  I gently picked  him up and he started seizing.  Halfway to the vet he stopped seizing…and breathing.  Well the vet was really nice and said he was too young for the damn carny to have been giving him away and that this is really common especially in baby bunnies like Frank and everyone made a point in reassuring me that I did what I could…I feel awful. Really heartbroken guys. Feel like I lost my best friend.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your cute little Frank.

I don’t suppose the carnival is still near your town?  If I were you I would mention about how they are giving very young bunnies away as prizes to your local humane society. Give the name of the carnival and the date you were there.

I’m so sorry. You loved the little guy and took such good care of him. I agree with LPT, if they are still there, report them to the Humane Society or SPCA – there may be laws against giving animals out as prizes or for raffles.

Thanks everyone, and thanks Beka for posting that link. I’m thinking about heading to a shelter or something in the future (once I can bring myself to do it) to get an appropriately aged healthy bunny that I can spoil. I’ll be back here, you guys are awesome.

I have never met anyone who had a carny animal that lasted more than a few weeks, it’s sad what they do to animals at those places.

                      Sorry for your loss.

I am sure a rescue bun would appreciate the spoiling and it would be a good tribute to little Frank to help save another life. He was loved in the time he had, which is sometimes all we can offer the animals we share our lives with.

He was certainly a loved and spoiled bunny for his short life. I think adopting a rabbit in the future would be fantastic. They truly are rewarding creatures to have in your home.

Oh, I’m so sorry. How heartbreaking. You did such a good job making sure he had things to help him cool off as well as taking time from work to check on him. He was lucky to have you even though the time was cut so short. Binky free Frank.

I think it is a great idea to check out your local shelter or rabbit rescue for a bunny when you are ready.
