First, don’t worry too much about giving treats because they are just that – treats. They do not have to be given daily as long as a simple, fully healthy diet is being provided regularly (2xdaily) of greens, unlimited hay, and 1/4 cup of good pellets. They do not get bored often when they are eating good food.
Try limiting the bunny treats to just one, and get the ones made for bunnies by more healthy companies like Oxbow. I love the Veggie treats that are shaped like hearts, but there is a large selection of treat products in the Binkybunny store. Some are even homemade, like the Kale Krispies, and they are different kinds so once you try one your bunny likes it’s a better treat to keep on hand to give.
If you need a food treat, try a 1/4 inch banana slice, or a very thin slice of apple. A small chunk of apple about the size of a nickel is good too. Raisins are good – only about 3 at a time. Craisins are a favorite of some bunnies and again, keep it to few like 3. Some bunnies like green treats, so a sprig of mint or dill or celantro from the produce section of the store can really go over well. A baby carrot (the kind in bags at the grocery store) will usually be gobbled up.
