Sometimes at night, when Remy is either loafed up by himself or squished up next to Momo, he’ll inexplicably begin this weird moaning.  It’ll go on for  a minute or two and then I’ll say “Remy?” and he’ll stop.

Tonight he was making a high pitched moan and when I talked to him it went down to a low pitched moan.  It was like the bunny Doppler Effect…

He’s a very healthy bunny and just had his yearly.  He was pronounced to be in perfect health.  This has happened off and on for a while, so I never really worried about it.  I’m mostly just curious… does anyone know what this means?

        Weirdness.

          Maybe he’s really a mogwai?
I have no idea, I hope that it’s nothing bad because if it’s not, that’s funny.

            LOL Kate.

I just think it means he’s relaxed. My rabbit Mango “snores” when he is relaxed.

I hope he’s just relaxed… he only does it when he’s all hunkered down, usually with his eyes half closed.

Sometimes I’ll be petting him and kiss his head and he’ll start honking.

              eeeee!

Some bunnies when they get really really relaxed or when they are asleep, will just breath deeper and sort of do little snores. I have found these snores vary from high pitched to lower moan like sounds — though it’s not really moaning. The fact he honks…..so adorable. So wonderful to be loved by a bunny.

As long as he is healthy and there is no respiratory issues, then what are most likely hearing is just that deeper relaxed/sleep sound. Both Jack and Vivian do that. (Though Jack only has done that as he aged — didn’t do that when he was much younger)

That is a relief! It actually concerned me quite a bit the first time I heard it because I couldn’t tell where “that weird noise” was coming from… it didn’t occur to me that a bunny would make it.

                  Thanks = D

And especially since bunnies can fall asleep with their eyes open, it’s hard to know when they may be actually snoring.

oh hey, I forgot about that!

I still find that totally wacky…

I’m so glad you brought this up because I literally JUST noticed this in Oreo and was trying to figure out if this is normal. She’s currently fast asleep and making noises that sound almost like little burps

Remy’s sound like “siiiiiiiiigh.” Very dramatic lol

Yup Gracie snores, pretty loudly sometimes, when she’s fast asleep. She’ll make little whimpering sounds too. At first I thought there was something wrong but I figured out it was just her in a very deep sleep.

Maybe she’s dreaming of chasing… beagles?

                              xD

Awww. Need video of Remi sleeping!

That’s so funny that when a person snores in their sleep it’s irritating but when a bunny does it it’s darling!
