The past 3 nights, I’ve noticed that ChaCha will shake her head.. like a “No.” She’ll clean herself and shake her head and hop off..

I’m not sure if this is normal bunny behavior or if something is wrong with her. I checked her ears and her eyes, both are clear..

Otherwise, she is eating her veggies, food, drinking water and pooping fine.

I hope this isn’t me just being scared

Sounds pretty normal to me. However if its not ‘her normal’ you might want to see a vet…but a shake after grooming is pretty normal

It is normal to certain extent. Baxter did it for quite a while and I didn’t think anything of it. Then I noticed he started doing it a lot. Like, all of the time. I checked them and took him to the vet and he has mites. They are not that bad at all though and I worried for nothing. They said he should be rid of them pretty quickly. If you aren’t seeing anything deep in the ears than your bunny should be fine.

Oh, you should have seen the head shake after they put the topical med on the back of his neck. I think it annoyed him more than the mites. He was desperatly trying to get it off lol.

I gave chacha her morning pellets and she ate. I checked on her after I had breakfast and she shook her head again.

So, I immediately made an appointment for this coming Thursday to get checked. I hope she will be alright

Brittany, What vet do you go to? Hopefully you don’t mine me asking. I’ve gotten the impression you don’t live too far from me from some other posts.

Brittany, don’t worry yourself too much. You did the right thing by making the appointment to have her checked. It sounds like you have noticed it right away so it probably isn’t that bad. I am not saying that it is ear mites but it may be. If so, they are easily treatable and your bunny will be just fine.

Peppi – I go to des moines veterinary! I don’t live in des moines, but my friend got her bunny neutered there and recommended me. I love the place. The doctor that my bunny sees is exotic savvy. He even checks birds! In fact, the waiting room had 3 bird owners when I went to get chacha spayed.

Nibbles – I just wanna be sure she’s okay. She has seemed to be a little gloomy the last few days. Also, I’ve noticed one ear up, the other down after she shkes her head.

What kind of medication is given to the bunny for potential mites?

Also, the doctor was a netherlannd dwarf breeder. As soon as he opened the carrier, he said, “oh a silver marten!” But when he held her, he realized she was a black otter lol. Martens and black otters look almost the same. This was when I got her spayed.

Indy shakes his head at me, especially when I make kissy noises at him, then he bursts into doing binkies or the IndyBun 500.

Indy does his head shake at the start of this video. Is that what she is doing?

Ah, I didn’t even know about that place! It’s good to have some backup vet choices. I go to Browns Point.

The head shake can be any number of things. If their ears look clear, I wouldn’t worry too much and since you’re getting a checkup, the vet can look inside to see. It could be that there is an extra long fur/hair that is tickling their ears or it could be a mini-binkie or maybe your house is a bit drafty and the air feels cool on freshly groomed ears.
