I noticed the other day these 3 poos that were all connected together by hair and the next day I saw 2 more that were connected   I went over to the vitamin store and got papaya tablets.  Of course the rabbit that didn’t need it love them but Archie sniffed it and looked at me like “there is no way I am eating that!”  Is there anything else I can try to give him that will help him?

Well he needs to continue to eat his hay and drink – it sound like the fur is moving through his system which is good. Keeping the gut moving is what will prevent a blockage which is what is happening when you see the string of pearl poops. Also good to keep them active and running around.

I agree with Sarita- but if you want him to try the tablets you could always cut or break the tablet and then immediately offer it- that might release a little more aroma.  When I got Penny I am pretty sure she had never had a papaya tablet before- and it took her a time or 2 to figure out that a hard tablet was a tasty treat.  Now they seem to recoginize the smell as a good thing.

He’s still eating and drinking well.  I’ll keep an eye on his food intact though.  He runs around during the night but not too much during the day.  But I think he’s been depressed since he couldn’t be with Gracie for the week.  We’ll see if he’s more active after we start bonding again tonight.

Is there any kind of food I can give him to help him too?

Actually hay is the best prevention. I would just continue with his regular greens too.

I broke up the tablets and put them in his pellets and he must have waited until I left and ate them. Now he likes them and I haven’t seen anymore hair in his poo either!

I’m glad to hear he is eating his papaya tablets, it took my bunnies a few days to come around with those as well. Even though he is now eating those, I think that still making sure he stays hydrated and eating his hay is the best way to prevent a blockage. Is it possible to try to groom him a little extra to decrease how much fur he is ingesting? I know how it is with bunnies, they seem to have endless fur coming out of them. When I have one that is shedding really bad, in the morning before I go to work I will dampen my hands and run my hands all over them to try to get some of the loose furs, and then in the evening I will give them a good brushing.
