…and I stopped dead in my tracks. Hubble actually looked at me, and acknowledged me like a normal rabbit does! He went up to the side of his cage and looked at me. I am so freaking happy, I’ve had him since December and this is the first time he’s ever actually shown an interest in me at all. I’ve been working on socializing him with Nova and I think that she’s really helping him become a normal rabbit. He was actually running around with her yesterday in their outside pen! Like actually running!!! I’m so happy now that he’s coming out of his catatonic state and acting like a rabbit, not a rock.

Oh doesn’t that just thrill your heart! ^_^ Congratulations! I remember after bringing Fiver home, how long it took for him to not feel so scared around me and start investigating me and his space with interest. It was a special moment.

Hubble and Nova…oh those are delightful names! ^_^

              That’s terrific.
It’s the ones that take so much time, patience and effort that are so rewarding.

I predict that in 2 years you’ll be stating what a snuggle bunny he’s become.

Pam, that would be unbelievable. Like seriously, I don’t quite believe it could happen. Haha. He has surprised me so far though, so I won’t completely put the chance out of my mind. When I got Nova I thought she was an incredibly difficult rabbit to work with because she was/is aggressive. Now I realize that at least she was telling me things (pretty much that she doesn’t like anything I do). One of these days I’m going to have to get a rabbit from an actual rescue organization instead of going an finding them myself! That’ll be a treat, actually knowing when I’m getting into before I make the commitment.

As a side note, potty training thing is going along much better with him too. I think he’s got the rabbit cleanliness habit back since he no longer seems to enjoy sitting in his own urine. He only pees outside of his litterbox now when he’s in a mood with me (such as my changing his litterbox/cage. and it’s not marking, it’s just deciding to pee a bucket there) or around my room when I forget to put down the second litterbox.

I’ve had Pepper for almost 3 years now and only in the last 3 months has she started come up to me on the couch for pettins. For the first year I couldn’t even touch her without a freakout and it was pretty funny when she finally realized that head-pets felt nice
(hey stop th…..oo…oooooh that’s niicc…I mean HEY don’t you …mmmm…*melts) And about 2 weeks ago she actually hopped up on my bed and shoved her head under my hand for pets!

She was almost a year and a half old and had been in the shelter system for quite a while when I got her, so I’ve worked hard not to push her and to make sure that she felt secure. I let her have her own space, and while she’ll never be a cuddlebun she does sleep under my bed and groom my pillows so I know she loves me. She’s a bossy little thing with a HUGE personality and sometimes I think about all the people who passed her by.
