I left the room for a moment and came back to find Dennis on the table eating a benadryl pack. He ate about a half a tablet. Anything I should do besides watching him for now?

How is Dennis, Mrmac? I hope he’s OK- update us when you get a chance.

mmm, well I’ve heard you can give rabbits benedryl so if he was going to eat any meds, that was probably one of the better ones for him to break into. How much do the tablets vary from the liquid stuff?
Hope he hasn’t had any ill effects.

He is fine. He never started acting off. He just had a stasis episode recently (the first I have experienced with him) which is why this made me so nervous. He is just so rotten, he gets into everything!

Glad he’s okay! He just wanted to make you worry, the little bugger.

Half of a tablet would be a childs dose (which is liquid).  Pets and people can get sleepy from Benadryl if they are not used to taking it.  But there are very few side effects unless in very rare cases a pet is allergic (but it is an antihistamine which is used to treat allergic reactions- so possibly but very, very rare).  An overdose will cause hyper, excitability.  I can only take half the recommended adult dose otherwise it makes me jittery and my joints feel weird like I have to move- but moving does not help.

So at least he picked the least harmful thing to eat- other common over the counter meds would have been a big problem- like tylenol or motrin.

                        Hi Cinnabun

What is the name of the medication?  Does the packet have a hotline number on it you can call? Or is a vet clinic open that you can ring?

If possible, take the pack with you and see a vet. Hope all is well… ((((((bunny))))))
