wondering if anyone has any unique hay feeders they use, we’ve tried plastic storage bins with holes and it resulted in a lot of chewing the plastic, we’ve now been putting all hay directly in one side of high back litter trays, but it seems like we’re wasting more than we were before. I understand that rabbits waste hay but to me it seems like a large amount, we’ve been buying lots of different hay, im not concerned with the amount of hay intake, just the amount of waste! Does anyone have any ideas? Pictures if you have any would be great! I’ve been considering a hay bag, like the ones some people make on Etsy, but to me they seem very overpriced and I am concerned that they would also chew the fabric – I’ve also been thinking about a wooden rack or trough, but the ones of Etsy seem to be very very expensive, if anyone has experience making these wooden ones themselves please link me to any posts or instructions! I’m open to all sorts of ideas so please any help would be appreciated, thanks so much in advance!!

You can make a quick fabric one to check if they’ll tug at fabric. If you check out the link below, you’ll see wick has a fabric hay feeder that I made by cutting a pair of my pajama pants and using a section of the leg portion. I turned it inside out, cut the fabric where I wanted the holes (don’t cut out holes, but cut slits and fold the fabric over so the fabric doesn’t fray), and I taped the folded over fabric with tape so it stayed. I turned it right side in, and bam, a fabric hay holder with no cut fabric showing and no tape on the outside.

Another option is switching to compressed hay, so it’s not as easy to dig through and push hay behind their butt where it can be peed on.
