Man, when you get so used to seeing our domesticated furry friends it is so jarring to look at Hares and Jackrabbits. They look so…weird. and somehow unsettling lol

The one thats walking looks like a cross between a rabbit and like some kind of deer thing…idk but their ears are freaking HUGE.

Aren’t they magnificent! I’ve only met one Jackrabbit my whole life from a rescuer – it was a baby and he/she was amazing. Her eyes were a golden color and her fur was almost curly looking.

Unfortunately where I live we don’t see many Jackrabbits anymore but I do see alot of cottontails and they always make my day too.

You most likely would scare them too :~) The same wildlife rehabber had an adult one at one time that was injured and he would just scream if she came near him – she sadly had to put him down because she couldn’t help him and his fear of people was just too great to give him any help.

We have a giant jack rabbit outside my work, he is often outside in the evening when we go out. It finally snowed today, which is good since ‘peter’ turned white about four weeks ago!
I was thinking of bringing him so hay or kale, but I don’t want to interfere…what do you all think?

It’s best to let them be – they probably have no idea what kale is anyway. Your so lucky to see him.

wow… those hares are beautiful!  big ears… better to hear you my dear!  so different than my lop-earred gal.  there are only cotton tails to be seen wild around here.  they are used to living in suburbia so are not completely skittish.  my dog & i bump into a few out on our runs and since he’s used to having a bun for a pet he always wants to play.  they’ve never obliged
