You guys would’ve gotten quite the laugh to see me the other day. All three buns are shedding. Bigtime. And I had Mimzy and Pip out in the xpen so grooming would be easier. (With Fiver, it’s best to keep him in his night pen…less room for him to escape and no lunging runway! Lots of grunting though, sadly.)

Usually they give me all sorts of starch and run around the pen at a furious pace, but this was different. They must be so sick of their own fur that both of them would get into my lap and nibble my clothing to get me to groom them…Pip actually got enraged when I would stop, it was so funny. At one point, Mimz almost went right up my arm and over my shoulder he was so eager for the love glove…lolz.

But holy smokes!  I finally get done for the evening (just about everything has come off them except for their tail areas, Pip being the worst of course) and I am COVERED in bunny fur! I mean solid from head to foot. No, I did NOT get a picture. What do you think I am, crazy?

But I got them back in their pens and took a loooong shower and by the time I got out, my left eye was so swollen from trying to rub fur out of it that the white was actually ballooining up to the iris from the corner of the tear duct inwards. It was bloodshot, sore and painful all the way into the next day. Finally, after many applications of eye drops, it subsided, but OY!  What a nightmare! I keep thinking about how President Elect Obama is going to get a hairless dog for his daughters and I am beginning to wonder if there is such a thing as a hairless bun and where I could get one?

Wow, begging for the love glove. That remiinds me, I think I’d like to try one. Where can I get it MM? she’s not shedding yet, but it’s inevitable…

No pix. Chicken. Hey, you could tell people you have a homemade rabbit fur coat, and no animals were harmed in the making of it. (Except a human with a red eye.)
Try a night of Benedryl. It’ll make you sleepy, but who cares when you go to bed?

Bunny hugs to your balding brood.

lolz…Thanks Pam. ^_^ Yup, the glove is a lifesaver for me, as any other brushing implement (including the Furminator) is given a strong stinkeye and a foot thump as soon as it is produced. xD
I got both mine at my local supermarket in the pet aisle. I think there’s a thread floating around with piccies of it.

            Here ya go…

I have been taking Benadryl like candy for months now. It is losing it’s affect on me every time. Wears off before I’ve reached the 4-6 hour mark it claims on the package. I am going to have to go for something stronger from my doctor. I think having to keep the house shut up during the winter here, plus the added hay used for three bunnies and not to mention their shedding, is causing my allergies to be much, much worse than usual. It’s funny, I am not truly ‘allergic’ to their fur, but pulling the hay out and putting it in their pens is enough to get me sneezing, wheezing and choking in seconds. Poor Fiver, he looks at me with these HUGE wide eyes every time I sneeze. He doesn’t understand why mummy is a’sploding so much. ^_^

It used to be I’d only get this bad around horses or certain dogs. So there must be a dander/environmental similarity that my system recognizes and then just goes aggro on. >.<

Poor Fiver must think something is wrong with you!

I have (ironically!) a RabbitAir air purifier that I put in my bedroom that seems to help a lot, maybe you can put it near the bunny cage?  Its a little expensive, you can probably find some cheaper ones or ones on sale.

I get the same way as you if I get a bunny fur in my eye – I look like a giant puffball, and then my throat starts itching so I start snorting and grunting like a weirdo.  What makes it worse is that my husband’s throat has NEVER itched so he has no idea what I am talking about, and thinks that I am just making things up and making these odd noises for no reason! It itches!

Oh yah…I love the people in the household who think you’re making it up. Hey, take a look IN MY EYE…does this look like I’m faking to you?? 0_o C’mere, let me pour a little itching powder down your throat and see how YOU like it! >.<

Hmm…I’ll go check that link, Moo, thanks! ^_^ With the (now) three cats (our feral kitty comes in during the eves) and the three rabbits, I could definitely use something that would unclog the air around here!

OH allergies yes.  Never had luck with benadryl either woreoff like you said under the time allotted on the directions. Yuck

Me and my ex used to have the battle of the windows.  The idiot.  HE would come home throw them all open  during ragweed season.  I would run around behind him shutting them.  HE would well I will put it mildly grype.  I have another word for it though.  a couple more actually not good to put here though.

Finally I told him if it was you ,  You would be shutting these windows in a heartbeat.  LIke duh my face is swollen my nose is clogged I can’t breathe out of it. My eyes itch and throat itches.

I understand where you are coming from.  with yourlook at my eye does that look like faking it to you.  Exactly.

I have an air purifier in the bedroom.  It helps.  I turned it on but it won’t run I have to go inside and see what is wrong with it.  I hope i don’t have to go out and get a new one.

Ohhh yes I get to the pharnacy with a script for Claritin and Walmart is supposed to have it for 4.00 in generic.  Stupid pharmacists tells me to go buy it over the counter for 1.00 a pill jerk.   I took my business somewhere else.

Dr’s are really understanding about allergies go see him/her and you will get fixed right up. No need to suffer if you don’t have to.
