  Hi guys! My parents finally agreed to getting a pet so after doing lots of research, we settled on getting a rabbit. So a few days ago, I brought home a 2 month old dutch rabbit and named him Timmy. I have a big doggy playpen set up for him in an extra room, and I hope to let him free roam once I bunny-proof the room. He’s the sweetest little thing and likes to climb on or lick me when I’m doing schoolwork.
  
  The only issue I have right now are his feet. They’re stained with urine (from his old home), and his back legs are dirty and brown as well. I read that I could try to wipe them with a wet wipe, but he doesn’t like it at all. He lets me touch his paws/nails, but if I try to wipe them or touch his back legs he’ll run off. Not sure what I should do now.. should I just leave him alone?
  
  I’m also kinda nervous to start clipping his nails, but I’m trying not to worry about that right now because his are pretty short. I try to touch his feet whenever I can so hopefully he can get used to it. Maybe I should just take him to the vet when the time comes? But that’s a whole nother issue.. 😀

  Rabbits do a very good job cleaning themselves, so if you’re providing a clean environment that will not maintain the dirtiness, he should be able to clean it off slowly over time, or new, clean fur will grow in! My second rabbit also came to me with very dirty feet and cleaning them myself were not an option due to her anxiety of people, but now they are very clean, credits all to her.
  
  Since he is so young, he probably won’t need nails clipped for a while, so I wouldn’t be too worried right now. I think practicing to touch the feet/paws can be beneficial.

  I agree with Wick. If the fur is stained, there isn’t much you can too anyway except remove any excess dirt. He will likely take care of that himself with grooming and being in a clean environment. Then it’s a waiting game for his fur to “grow out”.
