Now I know that everyone is eagery anticipating Halloween on Friday but today is DIWALI!

Diwali is an Indian festival, celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Parsi and other religions. I has slightly different symbolism for different parts of India but it is always called the Festival of Lights.

Today you light a candle and celebrate the Inner Light (Atman) and basically the idea that what is in you, your soul (Hindus don’t actually believe in a soul but it amounts to the same thing really) is good, eternal and is sort of renewed every year in Diwali.

Its a time to celebrate the victory of good over evil! So get lighting those candles people & Shup Diwali (Auspicous/happy Diwali)

Shup Diwali Cassi, Rohan, Charlie and Layla! Wow, that term’s a tongue twister. I like the sentiment of a day to celebrate victory of good over evil. Sure need that in the world. Wonder what the public events are like in India? The Festival of Lights sounds intriguing…

              Shup Diwali!

Thanks Cassi, The “Inner Light” sounds like a great thing to celebrate!

Día de los Muertos – Day of the Dead – is Saturday, Nov 1st. It is a wonderful Mexican Holiday for remembering friends and relatives who have died.
