        Bo is ill, again.
I have found when he’s not feeling well, he will sit in front of his water dish with is head over it, sometimes he will put his chest or even feet into it.
He is doing this tonight, so much that I’m afraid he’ll downed himself, so i removed the dish.
I have replaced the water dish with a sushi dish with a little water & pedealite mixture, he is drinking it.

Has anyone seen this behaviour? None of my other rabbits have done it, and I cant find anything on it.

Bo’s had one fill of critical care mixture and some Sub-Q Fluids so far tonight, as he is not eating/pooping. His breathing is faster then usual, and he seems to be tired.Things don’t drasticlly change this evening, then he’s off to the vet in the morning.

Can you take his temperature? I wonder if he has a fever and it’s his way to cool down. I hope you can get him to the vet, it’s sounding a bit like respiratory again – I HOPE not though!
You could give him icecubes to lick and get fluids safely. One on the forum leaders discovered this was a safe way for her rabbit who has tilt issues.

Please keep us posted. (((Healing Vibes)))

Poor Bo! I feel so sorry for him – and you of course! I really hope he will begin to get better soon.

I think the suggestion with the ice cube is great. I have nothing else to add other than my deepest sympathy and wishes for his recovery!

I got 6 poops out of him this morning, he’s not really swollowing fluids I put in his mouth, they sit there and drip out. I’ve already called the vet and they are expecting him this afternoon. The poops were smallish, hard, and looked to be coated maybe in a clear mucos.
He’s ‘off’ this morning, he doesn’t want to put his head down, I think he is having troubles breathing, as he is breathing faster then normal.
He ‘feels’ a good tempeture, and I cannot hear any weird sounds from breathing, his guts aren’t making any noise.

This is never ending, he was GREAT this weekend
He is on antibiotics for the pasturella, so hopefully that will help with any bactirial growth/infection from stasis.

uugghh… I just want happy healthy bunnies
My Vet told me last time I was there, that I am attracted to the sickies/special needs. LOL, a magnet for sick animals great… I think i should get a discount for all vet care then :p

Please let us know what the vet says. He sure doesn’t sound like he feels good.

My Hubby is taking him there right now, he said there were 2 more poops, one ok sized and one tiny when he looked.
I wish i coudl take him myself, but my Job is so picky with abcenses and stuff, and well without it I cannot pay the vet bills.

See if you can have the vet call you with your hubby there so she can explain what is wrong – I don’t know about you, but my husband would never get the diagnosis right or ask the right questions :~) at least to my satisfaction.

Oh, i already called first thing this morning, and went over everything, so it’s written in his file. Plus my Vet will call me as well, we’ve done this a ‘few’ times before LOL yeah, my Hubby is getting better at explaining, as he takes care of the dogs medical care, she is 12, Diabetic, blind with liver issues and pancrease issues.

My Vet learned that He does not have the same sense of humor as i do, nor the stomach … I had him bring in a rabbit i removed from a lady who’s eye had been removed and had serious infection happening… where the Vet & I would joke about rabbit “cottage cheese” to lighten the mood, my Poor Hubby turned white and almost passed out seeing the infection being cleaned out. When i had to do the flushes at home, he would hold the poor bunny and look in a total different direction. He is very sensetive :p

                                He didn’t make it.
My vet is doing a necropsy, and will call me back with the results.

I want to go home, but I am stuck here with my heartless co-workers.

Oh, Andi!! I’m so, so, so deeply sorry. You have fought so hard for his life and wellbeing, so I know how terrible you must feel right now. But you have done so much for him and all you could possible do. He was blessed to have had you.

I have no idea what time it is in your time zone right now, but I hope so much that you are off very soon, so you can get home.

Did he die before the appointment or at the vet’s?

Hugs to you Andi. He was lucky to have someone who took such fantastic care of him and loved him so much. Hopefully you will be able to go home soon and surround yourself with your remaining rabbits.

Please let us know the results of the necropsy too.

Thanks everyone, I’m still sort of in shock, having a bit of a hard time concentrating at work, but 2 hours to go.

I just got off the phone with my Vet, Bo had a fist size Abcess on the pole of the right kidney.
We are thinking maybe the pasturella infection travelled through the bloodstream to the kidney. There’s no way to know if this was the lump from last time, and that maybe it colapsed and that’s why we saw it gone, or if that was something totally different.

His intestines were good, and he had food through them, everything looked great, untill she came to the Kindey.

Pretty much without surgery to look in and find this, there would have been nothing we could have done, and if we’d found it the Kidney would have had to be removed. But those are the “if’s”.

I feel badly he had to go through this, i wish I could have put him down before this if I had only known, or at least have been there when he passed. Ani never got to say goodbye, I hope she will be ok.

Ugh. I am sorry Andi. Going through the same thing with my girlfriend and her rabbit right now. I still haven’t heard back from the vet but I did confirm with my girlfriend that she did give her rabbit some of the lettuce that was marked for recall. She had no idea about the recall. It is possible that her batch was fine though so we’re still waiting.

They are way too fragile and short with us to fully enjoy the love they bring into our lives.

P.S. – Fitzgerald also put his head over his water bowl but my gf thought he was a little wobbly on his feet and that’s why he did it.  Falling into that position and just deciding it wasn’t worth getting back up.

Sometimes we counsel people who have a bunny that passes on away from home to bring the passed bunny home to spend a little time with their bonded mate, so that the mate knows their friend has passed and isn’t coming back. I don’t really know if this helps the remaining bunny or not, but it might be something to consider. Please give Ani a kiss on the head and an ear rub from me.

                                                                Thanks everyone

I had Bo looked at to see what it was that killed him, so he went to be creamated soon afterwards. Ani has been spending the last few days with Kyoto, he likes grooming her face, though so far she’s not returning the favore. She will sit with Kyoto and Pitters, and eat with them, but no snuggling yet.
I took her upstairs by herself last night to give her some time with just me and the dog, let her sniff some of Bo’s blankies and stuff, I think she knows, I can’t say really why but i just know.

When I let Kyoto & Pitters be with Mittens the night she passed away in our home, they never realy showed any interest. I think they already knew she was dying, Maybe it’s the same for Ani & the other bunnies, Bo was sick with them and maybe they just knew he wasn’t going to pull through.
