They did much better then i thought they would!  They arent fully bonded yet, but went in one carrier and got along great for over two hours.  They went for check ups and nail trims.  Ive trimmed Hammers before, but was a little wary of doing Rose’s.  Rose puts up a fit for everything!  But the staff was happy to see them, announcing that the bunnies are here lol.  Hammer was first and the tech did his nail so easy and fast  it was almost embarrassing how hard it was for me when i did it.  Then Rose’s nails were almost just as easy!  Toke her maybe 40 seconds and she was done, no drama what so ever.  Both passed their exams and were on to teeth.  Omg that doctor scared me when he was looking at their teeth!  He stuck that flash light jaw opener thingy and they gaged and jumped and bit at it.  I wasnt excepting that, was not a happy bunnie mom.  My poor Hammie clung to me when i was holding him afterward and wouldnt let him put him back down, poor thing!  The doctor decided to grind both of their teeth down, neither liked that very much.  He said that they werent bad but just to make sure they dont get those little pointy things on them.  What are those? like spurs or what?  Im done with vets for a while!  I had to put my cat Sassy down yesterday and now watching my babies get their teeth grinded down!  But both are healthy!  He asked if i had any questions, so i asked him to show me how to clean their anal glads.  He said they didnt have any so no nothing to worry about.  Well..yes they do… so i insisted that they did have them and should be cleaned out.  He laughed at me then!   Said ”in my 18 years of practice ive never had a request to do that to a rabbit, and have never heard of them.”  That was kind of surprising, but asked that he looked anyway and sure enough he found them.  Doc said he knew they had some kind of glands down there but never knew they got yucky like that, then said thanks and id taught him something lol.  Both Hammer and Rose both had some yucky build up so im glad its out and i know where they are now.  How regular or normal is that teeth grinding thing? They do that everytime? Just wondering!  Oh and he said Rose is a bit chunky!  Rose weighs 9.1 lb and Hammer is 4.13 lb.  Hammer hasnt gained any weight since his neuter, real surprising because i thought he was suppose to be a big boy.  Rose is back to normal in her cage, but Hammer has decided to scare me again.  He wont eat any salad or move from were he is loafed.  Poor guy is horrified lol

OH my poor little Hammer.  Did you try and give him a treat yet?  that might help him get over things.  If he isnt’ eating tomorrow I would check with the vet since he ground their teeth down.

Yes teeth grinding is normal for their teeth grow continuously .  They do get spurs no them sometimes.  Some bunnies need this procedure quite often others hardly ever.

Sounds like somebunny is mad at you.   OH the indignity of it all.  Anal glands hmpf I can see Hammer now all embarrassed hunched in the corner.

Hey I am glad the vet was open to learning something new.  Thats great.

Yes he did eat a raisin. He didnt take it immediately but after waving it at his nose he ate it happily. I got him out and cuddled him for a while and he seems better. Ate a little bit of salad and found a new place to loaf. Poor baby. But im sure he will be fine later tonight. Are theyre teeth sore after that grinding ya think?

BunnyLiz, you are a treasure! LOL – that you insisted about the glands and now the vet knows! Bet he wishes he didn’t though!! Glad to hear your two did ok. Very sorry to hear about Sassy. I think I remember you said about a cat you had to give injections daily, was this Sassy?

lol yea i was almost without words at first when he said they didnt have anal glands. I was just thinking what a minute.. back up, im right on this one lol. Yes that was my Sassy. He was diabetic and got two shots of insulin a day and some pills. But every time he went to the vet for a insulin curve his levels were out of control. Tried different meds, insulin types and dosages but nothing seemed to help. He was acting like he was starving all the time and would have crazy almost coma type periods at certain times in the day sometimes. So we decided to let the poor guy go. He was my oldest, got him when i was 4. He was nice then, but he got grumpy with old age lol. He had his idea of how he should be pet too, has drawn blood biting a few times if you didnt pet him when he wanted you too. Or if strangers didnt know to stop petting him once you were half way down his back lol, stay away from his rear! Ok im done rambling now!

Sounds like the vet trip went well, congrats! I hope the vet doesn’t raise his price because the glands are so stinky.

I just took my Toby in today for his teeth and nails, it’s the front ones so they get clipped and not ground. Sometimes he’s just fine the first night, chowing down on everything in sight. Every now and then you can tell it’s a bit tender so I make sure he’s got some soft damp pellets to eat but he’s usually fine by the next morning. He looks funny sitting around licking his lips like ‘wow, I can chew again’.

Here’s a photo when we went way too long between clips, he would totally hide when he saw the carrier come out or go to a spot in the condo that would require me to practically take it apart to get to him, sneaky little guy.
