Hair loss around eyes.

Hi, My 7 month old rabbit Rosie has had some problems with her eyes. A week or so ago she had watery sore eyes so i took her to the vet. He examined her and her teeth.. but came to the conclusion she had conjunctivitis (pink eye). He gave me some drops which i continued to put in twice a day for 7 days. They look much better, not pink and sore. However its been just under a week and one eye in particular is a little watery again and she has lost some fur around her eye. I have tried washing them gently to loosen the leftover gunky bits in her fur. She is her usual self, eating and drinking fine.. destorying her hutch and when ive brought her inside she runs around like a little bullet and ‘binkys’ all over the place!

Just seeing if anyone has anymore advice?  Whether you think she needs to go back to the vet or its still just clearing up? I do have some eye drops left.. shall i continue to use them?

 The soonest i will be able to get her to the vet will be after the weekend now.. any advice would be great to ease my mind!

I would either call the vet and leave a message with those exact questions, asking your vet to call you back, or shoot an email to the vet and ask that way. Often the vet will be able to tell you if you need to continue with the treatment a bit longer (especially if she has responded well initially) to clear it up completely, or if you need to get her checked again for either more meds or a change that is more effective. Contacting the vet and being ready to bring her there on Monday may be the best way to proceed.

Hair loss around the eye is normal for rabbits with eye infections. If the eye is getting watery I would continue the eye drops until you can see a vet, in case the original course of antibiotics was not sufficient. Otherwise she may end up with an antibiotic resistant infection, which would require further treatment.
