How do you differentiate weather a weird looking poop is caused by a gut slow down or it is Megacolon.

Megacolon is a condition impacting how the GI system functions, so your question is a bit off-target since some poops that come from a rabbit with megacolon may literally be the result of a gut slow down or related/resulting complication. It is not one or the other nor would you be able to tell from a single pooping instance. https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Megacolon

If your rabbit is having unusual poop, it’s generally better, simply based on probabilities, that you first look at your rabbit’s diet composition, quantities of food consumed, and lifestyle for things that would impact GI function/poop formation first.

I get that, i feel like they’re diet is good and full of hay, it’s that they get the occasional oval poops and i tend to brush them both 3 times a week. I’m just wondering what could be causing that.

One more thing, one of my bunnies have had many x-rays done to him could the vet had diagnose him based on those x-rays if he did have megacolon.

Megacolon is genetic and apparent by a particular coat pattern (mentioned in the Wabbitwiki link), so based on your profile picture, unlikely.

If you’re brushing your rabbits x3/week right now, they must be molting so the occasional oval poops are likely fur-filled/linked. Outside of molting time you don’t really need to groom rabbits, and the amount of fur loss during a molt is very very high, so I would not be surprised that having a day or two gap in between brushing would result in those fur-bulked poos. I recommend grooming daily for molting rabbits, if possible.

TBH, some oval poops here and there are not the biggest concern. I think it will be fine. Just keep up with the brushing.
