Thats right! Pancake has now moved inside. After the ordeal at the vets he is now living in the lounge with us. We got him the biggest cage we could and he still goes out in the garden for grass when it is warm.

He loves to play in the lounge really though, in the middle of us causing trouble!

He does have a bad habit of rattlng the bars alot and I don’t know how to stop him, any ideas?

Also, he is not too keen on sawdust (funny bunny) can I just have it in his litter tray and use something else? Again, any ideas?

          That’s great – I’m glad he’s inside now.

I don’t have any ideas but I can tell you my bunny has the same name. What kind of bunny is he? Mine is a Lop.

You’ll love having him inside! You two will be much better friends!

Bunnies usually don’t really like sawdust to sleep on-although some do! You can try a towel or even a bare cage, or a petbed. It’s usually trial and error until you find what they like…I’d recommend getting rid of the sawdust totally as it’s dusty and use something else in the litter box, like carefreash or yesterday’snews.

Whoops…about the cage rattling, it depends on why he’s doing it…He may be trying to get your attention!

Or some bunnies just love making noise…You can give them a ka-bob type toy with a bell on it, or rattle toys to make noise…Kokanee loves a cashew jar that has some pennies in it-it’s startingly loud but she likes to throw it around so I let her….

We are getting along really well now and have cuddle time on the sofa (until he has had enough and wants to dig on me)

I think he rattles the bars for attention, but sometimes it just looks like he likes doing it (reminds me of a horse crib bitting)

He has a pet bed at the mo but he is chewing it, but then again it is his and if he wants to chew it then that’s fine!

Pancake was sold to me as a mini lop – his ears are always up now and he weighs 2.7kgs! I think it adds to his character!

Wheeee! Oh happy day for Pancake! That’s great news! I too would recommend not using the sawdust, especially if it is pine or cedar, it’s not good for rabbits as it can cause liver damage from the phenols emitted from the wood itself. Carefresh, Yesterday’s News and Aspen Supreme are great alternatives. It does sound like you two are bonding quite well and I have to say from the picture he is not a mini lop and almost from the ears looks to be a regular-sized bun like my two who are 8 and 9 pounds each respectively.

This what he looked like when I got him! What a difference! I’m not quite sure what the beddings you have suggested are as we are in the UK. We tried straw for a while when he was outside but  I haven’t seen much else in the pet shops other than sawdust or straw.

pancake sure has changed huh?  he’s so cute… his ears have decided to stand up!  maybe he’s a mix?  you might have luck finding different bedding if you look where kitty litters are.  thats where i’ve found ‘yesterdays news’ and other ones… which never seems tobe near the wood shavings & hay.

The sawdust you have could potentially be dangerous for your little guy.  The dust gets in the lungs and if it is pine or cedar they emit phenols which can cause liver damge. What we recommend is litterbox training to avoid the need for bedding, and instead provide flooring made of wood or somethng covered with wood, a rag rug, stone tile flipped wrong side up for traction (ceramic works too) or a towel or blanket.  Anyway, it is something you just might want to try and it also makes it easier to clean up after them as well.

Pancake is litter trained which makes life a lot easier. I found some carefresh in the end, I think they have only just started selling it over here. I’m going to start using wood pellets in his litter tray next week when all the sawdust is used up.

The new bedding has got the thumbs up, he has been trying out new sleeping positions in it all day! He can also have a little bit of a dig as well!

My boyfriend and rabbit have been getting on well. Pancake likes to sit in between his legs when he is playing on the Wii

That’s great! Sounds like the little guy is settling in well and adjusting to life inside!

I’m glad he’s made it inside! And its good that you were able to change the litter – he also may have not liked the smell of the sawdust, and that could be why he wasn’t such a big fan of it.
