So Bonton is currently going through a very heavy molt. Id say it has really got going here in the past couple weeks, and he needs daily brushing and fur plucking(fuzzy lop). This past week since his little not eating episode he seems to be more grumpy than usual. not that hes ever been one to sit and get pets for hours, but he would atleast tolerate the grooming. Now he likes to sit just out of reach, or he will slowly move away while being groomed. i think hes mildy agitated by this now. Still sits comfortably, splooted out, paws and feet out, and flops. Hes still eating all his food, begging for snacks, hay smashing, and going to the bathroom. Hes had a few string of pearls and fur poops but the spacing is very good so hes pushing out the extra fur. i have noticed some nights he poops more than others and size can vary a little since he started the molt. I dont have much experience with a heavy shed bunny, but i assume this is all normal, and too look for the usual signs, of stomach pressing and not eating or pooping. anyone with some experience have any tips? id say hes probably half way done, you can see a definitive fur line slowly working its way towards his butt, and right at the fur line it sticks straight up like a little mohawk lol.

Both boys can get quite fussy in the heat of their molts. One day last year they both were going quite heavy and neither one wanted to be out of their cages at all the entire day, and if you went to touch them they’d get finicky. Bombur’s more easy to realize he’s being in a bad mood from the molt because he’s the more attention seeking of the two. Usually he wants you to love all over him, but when he’s molting he binkies away or moves far away from you at even the slightest touch.

Yeah i figured thats whats going on. I always like to check though since hes so different from the 2 other buns we had, and even so different from the shelter buns where we volunteer. I think going to the vet all day last monday coupled with heavy molting is making him this way. its been a slow process this week of him moving away from us. Usually he seeks attention from my wife and tolerates me lol. now he just assumes petting will lead to grooming. hopefully he will be done soon.
