So for the past couple of days my female 12 week old giant Flemish has been acting very grumpy. She just seems to not want anything to do with me and it just seems like our human to bun bonding has come to a halt. Is she just being a teenager? I know she is getting to that age, but I am just curious to know if it could possibly be something I’m doing or is this normal?? Anyone had any experience with this?
Grumpy could actually be a sign of pain. Something could be bothering your bun! When Wick’s molars were too long and giving him some discomfort, he would never relax the same as usual, which I thought was him just getting sexually mature.
You probably haven’t had her too long since she’s 12wo, so it could just be she hasn’t fully trusted you as of yet.
Make sure she’s eating and pooping as usual.

Rabbits can be moody and your female just might want her space for today. She might flick or thump at you but that’s ok Just follow her wishes and I wouldn’t worry about anything medically extreme unless she is not pottying in 12-24 hours.
As long as you interact on her terms she will be fine, also out of curiosity she’s fixed yet or no?
She is eating and pooping normally. Being hyper as always. She is not fixed yet, so hormones could definitely be adding to her moodyness.
Could be, just talk with your vet when he or she feels comfortable to perform the surgery if that is the route you want to go.
For my boy who was born on January 18th 2017 and I adopted him 10 weeks later from shelter in norco and I had him fixed on April 5th. For boys if a vet can see it (decended) she can touch it
for girls always ask your vet for what’s best
I plan to talk with my vet more about it when it gets closer to the time. My little girl was born on Feb 2 and I took her home on April 16th of this year. So I have until at least mid July until I can take her to get fixed. So pre check up is still even a ways away. She has also been very destructive as of lately though, chewing on everything, litter box habits are declining. She is out pretty much all the time besides when I sleep. So I am at a loss for what to do to help her.
As a side note Bandit sounds like such a pleasant bun!! So cute too!!
Oh all bunnies are adorable and thanks! I’m actually really lucky he’s such an angel. I’ve always had blind luck like that and when I do stuff on impulse it goes exceedingly lucky.
I am the same way as long as I am home he’s out, when I sleep he’s in his house. I tried free roaming him for a week and he peed on my pillow while I was sleeping on it, eventually I figured it it’s because he loves me but for now until he calms down I’ll keep him housed when I’m not around.
Don’t get bunny envy wither I look at everyone else’s bun and I get jealous a bit, but I learned to love your own bunny for who he/she is and make do.
that’s pretty awesome though! Luck is something not everyone has. I have always tended to pick the more difficult animals. I’m not sure how, but it seems to be a pattern.
It just seems to be so easy for everyone to get so close with their bun, but i am definitely not giving up on bonding with my little girl ?
It’s just funny because I watch my husband with his male bun from the same liter and they are SO close already, just goes to show how different every bun is in their personality ? He’s also a very calm, clean chill boy so he is just polar opposite of my girl.
I have polar opposites too. I wouldn’t worry too much. She’s only 12 weeks.
Every time you go and see her make sure you are “interesting” to her…. by that i mean have something yummy in your hand even if only a tiny bit. And say a special word so she starts associating you, with it and the word.
Just try not to take it personally.
I’m presuming you and hubby are interacting with both bunnies so smells and wotnot get transferred over and they don’t become attached (and terrortorial) over each of you.
And yes, maybe not teenage years yet, but certainly the “terrible twos”… ![]()
Yeah I’m trying to start introducing veggies slowly. I haven’t given her any food treats yet, just toys. That’s a great idea though, the association of yummy treats and my hand as well as the association word.
Yes we both interact with both buns but there is definitely a super strong bond with Tonne (male) and my hubby. It was immediate for them though. The second my hubby saw a pic of him he fell in love and it just kept going from there ? Lol
I had a special word when I have a treat. They can both be in loaf positions (loaves?!) and not bothered with my presence.
When I say the magic word, (Twice. First time, the ears move and the eyes open…. “really!”) its like Usain Bolt when the starter gun goes off !! ![]()

Curious, what’s the magic word?
My bunny Guinevere was grumpy for her first 6 months. Everything I did annoyed her. After she was spayed, the grumpiness slowly went away. Today she is super uber cute and demands to be petted.
Luna : Its abracadabra!!!
Lol, no i jest, it’s just French for “here you are” which is TIENS. Its Zous magic word for ‘come get your treat’ !!
Vienna- I bet that is soo cute! I will have to try a phrase like that with her introduction to treats.
Just make sure you don’t use it in day-to-day life…. or she’ll be running all over the place !! haha
