Mocha is almost 5 and we’ve had her since she was 7 months old. She is a lionhead/Polish(?) mix. We know she was mistreated until we took her in. Mocha will come over and ask to be patted but while being patted will stop, growl, bite and scratch. Then she will put her head down and ask to be patted more! Of course, I oblige. She’s come a long way and we love her dearly but this behavior has always baffled us.

Is she just a sassy lionhead or trying to tell me something? Her growling is making it hard to bond her with our widowed rex bunny (named Rex). He’s heard her growl and is deathly afraid of her.

My doe, Lola, does the same thing sometimes. I think its just a rabbitude thing. Is Mocha fixed? Lola isn’t yet, her apt in on the 16h.

Yes – we spayed her about 2 months after we took her in. She was the bunny nobody wanted and I think it was partially due to this behavior. She’s always been a “my way or the highway” bunny. Despite her tough exterior she is afraid of every little noise. I have to hide when I rip a piece of tin foil because it sends her over the edge.
Nice to know someone else has a bunny that does the same thing!

Oh, definitely! I never knew a bunny could have such a big attitude! If Lola doesn’t get her way, she makes sure everyone else is miserable too. She has quite the little personality lol.
