Hello! My new rabbit, Costello already eats healthy amounts of hay and I do let him eat grass outside with close monitoring and no pesticides. My question is, if it is safe to purchase one of the wheat grass growing pots for cats, dogs, etc. and let Costello have a go at it in and outside his enclosure? I think it would be a nice addition and some fresh greens for my bud.

Wheat grass is totally safe for buns! My boys love it when I mix it in with their normal hay. How old is he? If he’s past the 3 month mark, you can start adding in greens, but do so one at a time for a 3 day span and monitor poops each time. I’d hold off on the other greens until you know his tummy is okay with the wheat grass.

Okay, awesome! He is a year old, so he ought to be fine then.

I agree with A&B. I have grown wheat grass for my bun in the summer. Will grow more this summer, because I still have seeds. I have also grown oat grass. It’s very much appreciated!

Oat grass sounds great too! Look forward to gardening for Costello then.
