does anyone here grow their own Timothy Grass?

I have started some pots of it.

It’s only a 2 or 3 inches tall right now.

Ha, no. my bunnies would go through a months worth of home grown timmy grass in about 10 minutes.

well it’s not meant to be the bunnies main food supply! My one guy could go through my couple of pots worth right quick too!
But I thought it would be a nice treat for him to have. If I actually had a yard I could grow a whole bunch.. but I don’t.
I have an extra 30 gallon aquarium out on the balcony that I have considered planting the grass in! That would be pretty cool. I have a bunch of seed yet.

I have four bunnies and at the moment…eight fosters (a mama and seven babies). Right now it’s tough to keep greens in the house and my hay supply is going twice as fast as it usually does, it’s a good thing the rescue supplies the hay and pellets!

TARM, you have quite a house full of bunnies!

And BunnyTowne, your allergic to timmy grass eh? Is it just the dried stuff? Because maybe fresh grass you would be ok with.

My allergy test said timmy grass so I figure it is both.   As long as I don’t stir it around much I am ok.  Been much better since I did that 3 days ago actually.

How is your grass growing doing?

I go pick grasses in the yard here.  With all that rain we have a nice grass spurt.  They don’t treat the grass here.   I wash it as always unless it just rained on it.  Then i get off easy cuz the blades stick to everything in the sink.

You can’t get any fresher than that.   Where did you get the seeds?

my mothers friend has a green house or something, and they knew I had a Bunny so they gave me a sac of timothy seeds.
Way more than I could use in pots!

What if i were to grow timothy grass in my dads backyard and let the bunnies run around and play in it, do you think it would be a safe choose??
