Today me and my friend took our rabbits to a small petting zoo with other rabbits. By 2 hours most people were gone with their rabbits. Our rabbits, Pepper and Mr.Nibbles were left. We soon noticed the two were cuddling almost, very close together. Soon Mr. Nibbles was slowly grooming Peppers back. Once in awhile working his way up. Soon he reached her ears, and we squealed about how cute it was. Pepper accepted it fine, and I just want to know what it means. Are they in love? Were planning on breeding them.

Hi, Please know that this site does not allow discussions of intentional breeding, so that may limit your posts here.

That said, it sounds like they are getting along well and will probably bond easily. Sometimes that behavior is a good indicator, but there still is a way to go once they are home together and adjusting to sharing territory, etc.

Again, I would encourage you to reconsider breeding, have them spayed and neutered, and have a happy life with them both without a litter. If you just want good pet companions, they sound lovely. If you are going to intentionally breed, this is not the website to continue with a discussion.

Oh! Sorry, I didn’t mean it, I was just asking if it meant anything.

Un-altered rabbits live solitary lives for the most part. Breeding male/female rabbits cannot live together. Breeding in general is a dangerous thing to do with your rabbit. Even experienced breeders advise against people breeding their pets because there is a chance it will kill the female. If a person can’t deal with the idea of being responsible killing their own rabbit they shouldn’t be intentionally breeding. Breeding is also very expensive. A female rabbit may have trouble giving birth and need emergency vet care which can cost you 100’s of dollars. Another thing to consider is the extreme over population of rabbits. There are the 3rd most euthanized pet in the US. If you breed your bunnies you are just adding to that over population. On top of that female rabbits have an 80% chance of developing uterine cancer by the age of 4. Spaying is very essential for the health and well being of lady rabbits. Please re-consider your plans to breed, spay/neuter, and give your bunny the long, happy, healthy life it deserves.

While the behavior between you and your friends bunnies does mean if they were both spayed/neutered they would probably be easy to bond I don’t think it’s a good idea. After rabbits are bonded they cannot be separated and doing so would be cruel. Unless they are owned by the same person and will be living together 24/7 bonding is not a good idea.
