I will soon be getting a Mini Rex bunny! I have done lots of research by watching bunny care videos. I’ve learned you have to frequently groom your rabbit. However, I came across an article today that says you shouldn’t groom your mini rex often. What should I do? Also it says you have to trim your rabbit’s whiskers because it gets long. Should I do that?

Definitely don’t trim their whiskers. Rabbits use them to navigate around, so they get a bit disoriented if they don’t have proper whiskers. Whiskers don’t grow indefinitely anyway so there’s no way it can be so long that it requires any sort of trimming.

I’m not sure about the grooming part, but since the article advises to trim a rabbit’s whiskers, I’m not sure if it’s the most reliable article to begin with. Does it say why you shouldn’t groom a mini rex often?

Due to their fur type, mini rexes are quite prone to getting sore hocks so make sure you have suitable flooring in the area. Soft flooring like memory foam mats, fleece etc. would be ideal.

It says you shouldn’t groom a mini rex because it might irritate it’s skin or fur. Here’s the website:

Rex skin can be super sensitive, and due to them having different coats from other buns, it is true that normal bunny brushes are not good for grooming rex rabbits.

There was a user on here with a rex who found that lint rollers worked well to groom excess fur off of her when she was shedding
