I was wondering if anyone uses this? I bought a bag for Bella for her litter box training. It had great reviews online. Here is the link: http://www.petco.com/product/10515/…gandLitter

I was thinking of using this as her over all bedding and switching to another litter box kind because I am using Carefresh now and it seems to get stuck to her feet a lot!  Any comments and/or suggestions would be helpful! Thank you!

          Hi Bunnymum,

I use Yesterday’s News for the litterbox. I put a layer of that down and then a layer of timothy hay on top. (And I put oat hay in the front of the box because it’s Rocky’s favorite and it encourages him to keep his butt to the wall – we have a high back litter box because he likes to back up really far to pee)… I actually don’t use any bedding in Rocky’s cage, but he has a hand towel down on the floor of it (solid floor) that he lays down on when he’s in there. He doesn’t chew on it so it works for me… I’m interested to see what other people use. Everybody on this website is really helpful and I’m sure you’ll get lots of fine suggestions!

I have used Aspen litter  with the odors taken out,.    IF this doesn’t have the pine and cedar odor and it has been removed then it should be fine

I used the little cut up pieces but it makes more of a mess sticking to their hair.   I went back to carefresh and it works better for my long haired girl.

So  now Aspen has a pelleted litter.   Haven’t seen it out yet  over here

Yes, that is exactly what I use for Sammy’s litter. But the bag has been green up until now. It is marked as unscented, and just has a faint wood odor.
They had a sticker on the bag saying they were temporarily using the larger pellets, but I called the number on a note in the bag, and they said they have gone back to the smaller sized pellets and it’s being distributed to stores now. I get mine at Petsmart. Actually, I was going to drive to Petco today for a new bag of smaller pellets, but just didn’t get there. PetSmart is selling down their older bags before they restock.

I don’t use any bedding at all. Herself has a clear preference for smooth plastic cage bottom, so I leave it uncovered. After her spay, she even rejected a soft fleece bed in favor of the plastic, which is ironic since she only walks on rug, not floors. She just poked her head up from my noisy typing.

I am happy with the brand.

Thanks for your help everyone! I hope Bella is the same way, Rabbit Pam, that would be great if she learns to use the pan and not need bedding. She is doing a little better, I have been putting hay in her box to encourage her to use it…..so we will see how this goes! I was looking for Yesterdays news, maybe I just looked in the wrong section? I did find this and liked the consistency for litter and came home and read the reviews and it seems that everyone likes it for litter and/or bedding.

They don’t show what it actually looks like in the ad but does it look like wood pellets?  I haven’t seen this out before but my husband was in tractor supply and was looking at the rabbit stuff and said he saw this pelleted bedding that was $13 and said it looked like the Equine Pine wood pellets we get in the store that are in 40 lb for $6 that are sold for horses.  I don’t know if they’re about the same thing or not.

It looks a lot like bunny pellets, only a little thicker. I just felt the bag and was able to tell it was little logs. Petco had a paper bedding with the pellets too, but I like this one for some reason! I went to my Tractor Supply too and I didn’t see the Equine Pine pellets, but I guess it is similiar.

I know sometimes they don’t always have Equine Pine….I just usually buy whatever says for horse bedding or in the winter we get wood stove pellets.  Sounds similar though.

The Equine Pine is also by the maker of Feline Pine, and both are used by members here. I prefer Aspen to pine only because there is still some question about the safety of certain woods like pine and cedar, and you need to avoid pine and cedar shavings though the Aspen shavings have been written up as OK so far. But all three are ok, since the thing to watch out for is the additives of excellerants in wood stove pellets. That’s the real harm. These products say they are Untreated, so less worrisome.

Yes, the Aspen are like little logs. I can’t wait to see the smaller sized pellets. Just can’t find them in my local stores yet. There’s no smell in my apartment at all, even with piles of poos and just before cleaning out the whole pan. (I just did. A happier, cleaner bunny is in my house now.)
