I bought a 32-36# box of 2nd cut timothy hay for my friend from http://www.sweetmeadowfarm.com/ and she said it was the nicest smelling, greenest hay she has seen in a long time.

In fact, her bunny came running when she opened the box cause it smelled so good and her other buns who wont wake up for meal time woke right up and started eating the hay. So it passed the test 7 times in her house.

It is always a crap shoot when you order sight unseen but last time I ordered from them the hay was good as well. The cost was only 38 dollars shipped to phenix city al which is a great deal. I bought a box for myself after she told me how good it was and the cost was $7 less shipped to mass.

On the site it says 1st cut and then timothy–the one labeled timothy is the 2nd cut and the one we bought.  This link should take you right there.

I am going to get some binky bunny hay too for variety but wanted to let you guys know about this hay as buying in bulk is good too esp if you have alot of bunnies. Even though I dont –it doesnt go bad. I stored mine right in the box and put some air holes in and removed the plastic bag it came in and it was fine for many months.

I think shipped anywhere it would be affordable. I mean it isnt as cheap as the bales i can get around here but this time of year the bales arent green and my animals dont care for it. So in the summer I can probably get good hay here and then in the winter order from sweet meadow. I like supporting them too.

I can second that… my bunnies love Sweet Meadow hay and pellets. And their farm is only a 20 minute drive for me. Anyone who has bunnies and lives near Natick, MA should definitely check it out.

The papaya treats and apple sticks they sell are also good. My bunnies won’t touch the apple sticks I got from a chain pet store, but they love chewing the bark off of these ones.
