My husband and I were in Michigan on the weekend and paid a visit to Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary!  It is a wonderful place that takes care of many rabbits, most of them feral.  2 years ago, they received 511 bunnies from Reno, known as the Reno 500, and have them all living in a huge field.  It was our dream to visit all of these bunnies – it was quite a sight to behold!  We volunteer for Rabbit Rescue in Ontario and we hope to one day have a place just like this for bunnies with nowhere else to go.

Here is a video of when the bunnies arrived at GLRS….

They’ve done so much to make these rabbits as happy as possible.  Even though they are domestic, being raised feral makes it almost impossible for any of them to ever be placed in a regular home like other rabbits that are raised around people.  All of the bunnies are very well taken care of and happy and healthy!

GLRS is an awesome place.  That is great that you got to visit their sanctuary.  They are often the stop of last resort for abused and abandoned bunnies that for whatever reason are not comfortale around people.
