One of my bunny LJ communities was recently ‘spotlighted’ on the main page which meant we were inundated with new members.  In addition to tons of cute new bunny pics, some of the new people are turning out to have some pretty good ideas as well.

One of them made a hay rack out of a plastic water bottle!

        here is the original post

That is nifty! One modification I’d make is to line the cut edges with sometime though. I used a suspended cardboard box as a hay rack for a while & I noticed under Jerseys neck she’d worn away her fur just from the cardboard edge. I imagine the plastic could irritate this area too. But other than that, it’s a good little rack and simple to make.

I’d also be concerned about how sharp the edges, but really… that’s a very cool idea! And that bunny is simply PRECIOUS!

                Very interesting shaped bottle.

I would love to do that, but need something to make the edges round, not sharp.

i did that but i used tennis ball containers.its almost the same as soda bottles except the top is flat.i did the corners round just to make sure they dont get hurt.Chace likes it,he’s been eating from it.thanks for the idea!

You could always use something warm/hot to melt the edges slightly.  I bet the bunnies would love some hay that comes from something that used to contain Mountain Dew!  Tennis ball container- new tennis balls are stinky!  I used to put peppermint oil in the containter to make the tennis balls smell better before I gave them to my Golden Retriever.  He was tennis ball crazed.

I want to bun-nap that cute little lop!
