wow, tracy, I loooove your ‘girls’! I hadn’t seen them before. the cream-colored, sable one, I want I want!

          — what kind of grass is it? you might want to wash it and let it dry out a bit before offering to your rabbits. introduce fresh grass gradually to avoid upset digestion.

…but back to your rabbits… what are their names?

Well  I think it would be better to use the hay from the yard.   The field hay do the horses or cows graze there.  If so I would be concerned about rabbits getting worms.   I know you sometimes have to worm horses once a month depending on where they are.

I feed mine grasses from the yard.

I have also gotten a few pads of hay from the feed store and they eat and have been ok.

Cleo has a very expressive face. is she Siamese sable?

BT has a point, but if you cut the grass well away from the ground and not near any manure piles, as well as wash it, it should be fine. I had discussed this with my vet when I first started to feed fresh (I was worried about flea eggs) and that’s what he recommended.

If they’re cutting it and using for horse feed, it might be ok. You’d need to check what it is and whether it’s been sprayed with anything harmful. Also, if it gets wild animals passing thru it I guess. When grass is mowed and left in heaps, it can mould very quickly, so it would need to be turned frequently and dried. I guess ask you neighbour more about it, they might have some tips.
