Last fall I was sad that I wouldn’t be able to bring grass in for the bunnies for such a long time. So I went out and dug up lawn and potted it. With three pots, I was able to give the bunnies some grass to chomp every couple of days allowing time to grow in between.

I had a better idea that needed to wait until spring when the grass seed arrived in stores again!

Grass seed + soil + cat litter box=grass they can eat and lay in!

I put it in for a day, then remove, water and lay on the kitchen table for a couple of days to regrow-we have two of these!

I love it! What kind of grass seed did you use?

I just used regular grass seed! In nice soil it popped up in a couple of days and was ready for bunnies in less than two weeks. It take a bit more ‘down time’ than my potted grass as it gets smooshed from Rupert laying on it, but they love it!

That looks so fun and tasty! I might have to try this.

Great idea! I just planted some seeds in an old litter tray today, the only thing I’m worried about is drainage. I didn’t want to drill holes, or else the soil and water would go all through my house… Did you have any problems with the water?

Cool idea! Definitely getting something like this started for my bun.

                      Would any grass be fine?

Do you have to put the box in the sun for it to grow?

Do your buns sit in the box and poop and pee all over it?

I have made a box like that, but haven’t let my bunnies have it yet. I’ve just cut grass from it and fed them. I didn’t drill holes in the bottom, it grew without a problem anyway.

You could try it with drainage holes then sit that box inside another identical box. Perhaps with a spacer between.
