My little guy was neautered on December 23rd (8 days ago).  He isn’t acting any different, still eating great and doing his zoomies, which I thought meant he was healing fine but then noticed this yesterday.  Any advice? 🥺

I would call the vet who did the neuter as soon as you can and let them know what you see. It’s a small image, but it looks like a gash has been open? It’s recommended that after a neuter, the rabbit should be given some restricted space and discouraged to zoomie or do a lot of activity because it can strain the surgical site for at least one week. Even if the rabbits feel all right, they are unaware what rigorous jumping and running around can do to the site.

I would make sure his litter boxes and general environment are clean so the wound does not get infected. Is he fussing with it at all?

Yeah it’s a bit hard to tell from the photo as it’s showing up very small (when you add media, there is an option to change the size of the pic when you insert it). I would send the pic to your vet and see what they think. Do the sacs feel like they are filled with fluid or swollen?

I agree a vet consultation is needed. I realise it is awful timing with it being New Years and with pandemic restrictions. Perhaps share photo with them first, as suggested?

It is not unusual for the sac to swell with fluid post-neuter. Had you noticed that initially or is that only evident now? Or is it the blood that is concerning you more?

I’m actually more concerned about the middle of photo. Is that the genitals swollen?

JG has a good point. I would be more concerned with swollen genitals. If the sac is somewhat swollen, it isn’t the end of the world. They can fill with fluid a bit. Just as long as they aren’t like golf balls or something. Are you worried about the dried blood? It looks like it’s been there awhile.
