I did some Googlin’ on my own, but wanted some confirmation from rabbit owners in terms of what is preferable (or if they’re all pretty equal). Wick usually gets one treat with his veggies, a small chunk that’s the size of my thumbnail (usually smaller because I’m paranoid). I rotate between a slice of banana, a chunk of strawberry, and a segment of grape.

Balancing sugar content and nutritional components, are one of these ‘better’ the others? I rotate them daily as of right now. Also, I have read the grapes are bad for rabbits, especially the skin… but I think that’s incorrect? Wick seems happy and prefers grapes over anything else.

If you’re giving as little as a thumbnail-sized chunk, I’d say it doesn’t matter which fruit/berry he gets. Of the three, strawberry has the lowest sugar content, quite a bit lower than both grape and banana.

Buns like grapes and raisins. In small quantities they’re not harmful, but both raisins and grapes are believed to be harmful to dogs.

Our Breintje is crazy about fruit, he gets about the same size as a thumbnail each time. He’ll eat anything from bananas to apples, and from raspberries and melons. The stronger it smells the crazier he gets. He’ll run around people who are eating fruit, and he’ll be thumping and jumping around you until he gets a piece. Only a little piece though.. He’s a 1,3 kg dwarf, so it’s quite easy to overfeed him.

It’s completely fine to give these small pieces as a treat, as long as the rest of the diet contains enough fiber and low-sugar/low-starch foods. The kind of fruit doesn’t seem to matter, but keep in mind that soms seeds can be toxic: apple seeds for instance. When introducing a new treat, always closely monitor his poop. Poop can become runny if he gets too much sugar or starch.
