Flopsy’s been behaving rather badly the past few days (pulled down and nibbled a House DVD box, yanked one of my sketchbooks off the shelf and gave it a lovely scalloped edge). I think he’s just bored, so my husband and I have been looking for toys that would give him some mental stimulation, but we live in a small town and the local PetsMart doesn’t really cater to rabbits. I thought maybe some of y’all would have ideas for toys that won’t strain a student’s limited budget but will give Flopsy something to occupy the time we can’t because of school. He has a willow ball, which he loves (chewed a hole into it and spread the pieces across the floor), and some apple sticks. My husband has also built him a burrow box out of a cardboard box with holes cut in the ends and filled with newspaper scraps. He also has a box filled with old documents to scratch in, another cardboard box he likes to shred, and a toilet paper tube (which he doesn’t care for too much), as well as a few ball-type cat toys. Any ideas for something he’ll find more interesting?

Phone books! Buns that like to tear and shred love to rip apart phone books.

I urge you to go to the Habitats and Toys Forum section. It is loaded with toys ideas – the best being homemade.
You won’t find many at the big box pet stores ironically, but your husband is definitely on the right track. Just watch to see if you bunny prefers digging, jumping, tossing, burrowing, chewing or running. Toys that cater to a bunny’s preferences work best. There should be pix in the Gallery section to give you more ideas as well.
