My little Oreo is only 13 months old and he decided to leave me last night after he had 2 surgeries & cecal inefficiency & diarrhea happening on him these days.

My heart is bleeding non stop since then and my whole world is crashing down.

I don’t know if rainbow bridge does exist or not, but I do wish we can be reunited again one day no matter how.

Thank you Oreo for this one year being with me, mom will love you forever and you will always deeply be in my heart.

So sorry Charlotte. 13 months is way too young. It sounds like you did the best you could. The fact that you had taken him in for treatment and he actually went through surgery, twice, to try to help him shows how much you cared and tried. Most of us here know the painful heartbreak and the “world crashing down” from the loss of our precious bunnies. I truly understand and have empathy for you. The poor little one sounds like he was suffering to a degree. Even though it doesn’t lessen the pain in your heart at least he is no longer suffering. You will eventually get over the intense pain and loss. It takes time. And I hope sooner even the pain of loss is replaced by smiles from the memories of all the special and wonderful things that you loved about Oreo. You are in my thoughts…

So sorry for your loss.  We also just lost our beloved Stewart on the same day.  We rescued Stewie back in 2012.  Some college girls set him free b/c they couldn’t keep him in their dorm .  But glad my husband spotted him, I should say Stewie picked him to save him.  In his short life of 7 years he struggled with Chronic GI Stasis. Got him to the vet, sometimes we were able to get him through it with diet and Critical Care.  Unfortunately on 10/19/18..we misread symptoms and got him to the vet too late.  We are totally heart broken and crushed!!  And of course we blame ourselves.  I can’t eat, I wake up at night crying……Not sure we will get another at this point.  Maybe we will wait to see if we get to rescue another…..Love you Stewart and you are forever in our hearts!!

Thank you, that actually made me cry. I’ll feel much better if Oreo can live in a happy life under rainbow bridge. Mom will miss him everyday although he doesn’t know.

I do feel regretful that I sent him to do those surgeries, which made things worse eventually.

I understand the regret of surgery without the intended outcome. Our little girl didn’t have surgery per se but she went in for two procedures and we think the stress of such hastened her demise. She was never the same after that. And it was soon after that she passed. But you try to do what you can to give them quality and length of life. The procedures are supposed to do that. If you choose not to undergo said procedures, then there would be the regret of not trying to do something to help them. Which in my book would feel worse, I think. Kind of a catch 22 but I believe anytime you do something with love and out of love and in loving intent for your soul companion(s) then you’ve done the right thing and nothing wrong.

Anyway, just encouraging you to not dwell too much on that regret…I and many others would have done the same.

Sorry for your loss as well, LuvOurStewart. Our little girl passed at 7 years of age too. Just a couple months shy of 8. That is a pretty good age for rabbits from what I understand. Regardless it is too short, always. Especially compared to ours. “Heartbroken and crushed”, I understand. It is normal, has to be, that we blame ourselves for any and everything that goes wrong, especially in these circumstances, if we feel we didn’t do the right thing at the right time all the time. But with the multitude of decisions, distractions, schedules, issues, and all the other things we deal with on a daily basis that are a part of life…perfection in any area is impossible. Stewie (and I just love that name) knew he was loved. No doubt about it. I hope over time, sooner than later, you find yourselves able to forgive or move past that blame. I remember when the loss of our little girl, Icey, was fresh, life was turned upside down. Sleeping, eating, functioning, everything all messed up. It was a sort of living hell. Kind of felt like I was dying. You are in my thoughts….my heart goes out to you.
