At the moment we let our rabbit, Monty, have free run of the living room, but we want to let him roam a bit more of our flat! We want to find a good baby gate to keep him out of our kitchen since it wouldn’t be safe for him, but he’s a pretty small bunny and want to make sure he can’t fit through the bars (or worse, get stuck between them!)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good baby gate for keeping dwarf/miniature breeds of rabbits our of harm’s way?

I found baby gates to be expensive and a pain the bum You can make one easier, and cheaper by using NIC Cubes and just zip tying them together in a way that fits the gate. That way you can make it as tall as you need and easy to remove. These are the cubes-they are sold in walmart, target, home depot etc

Ditto the NIC cube barrier. I use them everywhere in my house!

We had a small dog baby gate, which was fine for our dwarf & lion head….then we got the lop and she has to have a super high NIC cube made gate.  I bought my original gate used on Craigslist.  I agree that they are expensive & that a nic panel door/gateway is easier to use and more durable against the cats!

If you want to invest in an x-pen that’s made for dogs, you can flatten it to act as a gate, then have it to use as a pen later on. It’s expensive but may be worth it to allow more running space while still setting some safe limits.

If you do use a baby gate, they have plastic ones that have solid plastic sheets over the front instead of plastic mesh. We had an old plastic mesh gate and it took the buns no time at all to chew right thru it. But I agree, NIC grids are more versatile and cheaper…

I got a single bi-fold closet door off Craisglist, sawed it in half, and that blocks the sewing/computer room off
