We did bloodwork on Friday and I’m taking him back tomorrow.  She wants to see if it’s a metabolic disease.

I have him downstairs to watch him and he’s running and acting normal just not eating!

I’ve continued medicating and handfeeding him – but not poops either.  He’s still having the mucous though.

I’m kind of at my wit’s end and I’m going to have her recheck his teeth but I don’t think it’s his teeth either.

He’s not a good patient either – he’s very tense for the shots and fluids and he has no extra “skin” like my other rabbits and i can tell he’s getting thinner.

I’m hoping when I go home today he will have eaten his greens

He’s back at the vet and she’s keeping him overnight and put him on fluids and do some injections (probably metroclopramide).

They gave him some barium (?) which I guess is like a dye and are going to do some x-rays on him to see if they can see anything that way. She is also going to sedate him to look at his teeth.

His stomach is full now because I’ve been hand feeding him but no poops.

She may have to do surgery and we’ve talked about this before and neither of us like it but if it’s a blockage and it won’t move then either way he may not have a chance but I am getting ahead of myself since we don’t know at this point.

He’s been running around and seems fine to me but I can tell he’s losing weight and feeling bony.

So keep Pepe in your thoughts. I hate not knowing what is wrong.

Well I just spoke with the vet tech and apparently he saw a few unformed small poops and Pepe ate a few pellets.

However the barium dye did not go all the way through so I’m not certain what all this means. I guess I’ll just wait to hear from the vet.

They are going to do more fluids and another metroclopramide injection in the meantime.

Yay for poops!  Boo for the barium not going all the way through.  Let us know when you know more.

I’m so sorry Sarita.  W/ humans, if the barium doesn’t travel through, that’s usually a good indicator of some time of blockage.  A blockage can be an actual block of something or even a kink in the system.  Keep us posted!
