I know that’s not what it is. But I can’t find what it’s called.

anyway, are there some breeds that have it more than others? some that have it less?

It is called a dewlap. Female rabbits have them-it is where they pull fur out of to make a nest. Male rabbits can get them but it usually means they are over weight. The dewlap size in females just depends on the individual rabbit, some are bigger than others.

As far as my experience, I’ve seen quite a few Californians with dewlaps. My rhinelander also has a dewlap. I would assume its probably more prevalent in bunnies that were bred as meat rabbits since they gain weight faster, but that is just based on what I’ve seen. I think its so cute when Grace cleans her little dewlap

also I think that buns who are spayed younger tend to develop smaller ones.

              I call them “bunny-cleavage”

Monkey never got one. She’s too dainty for a dewlap

mrmac, that’s cool. I didn’t know there was a corolation between a dewlap and nest building.

MonkeyBun, you just wait. In a few years Monkey will be rolling on her side on a chaise lounge, smothered in dewlap, saying “Moosie, fetch me another raisin.”

And Moosie will be flopped on his side saying “Get it yourself, woman!” lol. He doesn’t move for ANYTHING when he’s flopped hehe
