So, since my Dora passed away I have noticed changes in Oreo. Not for the worst but for the better which makes me sad. He has come ALOT more loveable and tries to get out of the cage anytime I open the door.

Oreo has been out on the balcony for a little where he gets about 6 hours if not more of free time runnin around and playin. I really want to have him runnin around the house free range but he is being SUPER strubbrun to being litter trained. So it was suggest as I adopted im from a shelter about 3 or 4 months ago to get him fixed.

So now that I am off mat leave I have some extra money coming in I started lokin into this. My issue I am findin is he needs to be dropped off n the morning and picked up in the evenin but this is not possible as I am at work super early and I dont drive. Other vets have said bring him in the night before but it is almost $250 to do it hem as opposed to 100.

I just really really want to get him fixed as I was told it would help with litter habits and mellow him out (he doesnt really need to eb mellowed out)

Just annoyed tryin to do what is best but not seemin like I can right now

I understand your frustrations but that is normal procedure for surgeries at any vet – I hope you can work it out so that you can get him neutered – you’ll both be much happier. Maybe you can ask someone to help you drop off and pick up.

Oreo’s changes may be due to the fact that he is needing more attention now that Dora has passed away, he may be feeling a bit lonely, and its great that you are able to let him out and spend time with him to keep him from getting depressed.

Do you have a friend that drives that does not have the same work hours that might be able to drop Oreo off? Or do you happen to know of any rescue groups around that might be able to help out? Rescues are generally quite supportive of spay neuters so they might have someone that could help you out. It’s really great you are getting him neutered and I’m sorry its tough to coordinate !

I’ve had similar problems w/ my former job.  When this has happened, I discussed the issue w/ my vet.  She usually let me drop off the night b/f and didn’t charge me for the overnight.  I also agree w/ asking a friend or even talking to someone at the shelter.  This is a rare case, therefore, people may be more likely to support you than you thought.

I had a neighbor that had just moved to Philly from Cali.  She had brought her cat to the airport to fly home for a visit.  She didn’t have all her health clearances for the cat, so they wouldn’t let him on the plane.  I was one of few people she knew in Philly and she called asking if I could pick him up at the airport and bring him back home to her roommate.  I did!  Most people are very accepting and willing to help if you let them know your circumstances.  I lived in Chgo w/o a car for over 12 years.  I guess that makes me everymore sympathetic towards people w/o cars.
