i have a male holland lop who is almost 5 months old. he is THE SWEETEST thing. he craves attention from anyone, he loved everyone in my family, including my cats and dog, right off the bat. he never has any problems with me cleaning his cage, he actually binkys and runs around when i clean his cage, he gets happy to have it nice and clean. also he never has any problems when my cats get nosy and jump in his cage or search his area out of curiosity (so he has NO territory issues AT ALL). i have only seen him spray once, but other than that he has had no behaivoral or agression issues even though he is ready to be nuetered. anyways, i was visiting a shelter today and saw a 3 year old neutered bun there named benny. he was so sweet and i fell head-over-heels in love with him. a girl there was considering adopting him but decided to check out another shelter first (i overheard she doesn;t have a cage or anything set up yet). it’s my birthday this week and i do have a lot of money saved so buying another cage and supplies wouldn’t be an issue, but the problem is nutmeg isn’t scheduled to be fixed until spring break (march) so i won’t be in school so i can supervise him. benny has a disposition similar to nutmeg’s, no agression, very affectionate, no territory issues. i would like to make a decision to adopt benny before anyone else does but i wanted to consult you guys here on your thoughts. if i got benny i wouldn’t even consider letting him and nutmeg be together without barriers until a month-a month and a half after nutmeg gets neutered just in case. but would it be hard to bond them? would it make nutmeg less affectionate, agressive, or unhappy? my mom keeps talking about how nutmeg is perfect the way he is and that getting another bun would make him unhappy and mess his personality up but i want to see what you guys think first. nutmeg loves attention and i dont always have the time to give it to him with being in high school and everything. should i get benny? and if so, should i bond them when nutmeg’s hormones wear off? i’m not sure if it would be hard and dangerous to try and bond two males. please help, give opinions, advice, anything! i don’t want to wait too long and then have benny be gone!
