Gabby is only aggressive with raisins and craisins

  It took three weeks with us before Gabby lunged at me while I was moving some of her food around. She then went in the next day for her spay which was already scheduled.
  
  She seems to be back to her sweet and loving self a day after coming home from surgery. I’m still a little leery handing her food as it scared me when she lunged at me. She’s been good when taking lettuce, carrot, and other veggies so I thought she was getting better. Then tonight I handed her a few raisin and craisins as a treat and she lunged the second she smelled them. I’m thinking the other night when she first lunged there was some raisins on the floor too.
  
  I’m thinking these are her favorites and she is super excited and wants mama to put them down fast. Should I quit giving these as a treat since they seem to be the lunging trigger or is there another way to give them to her to get her to quit lunging for them? She’s not biting but the first night she did it she scratched me.

  It takes awhile for their hormones to settle after a spay.

  I guess it could be excitement over the treats. I only give her 5-6 of them a night as a late night treat. I’ll have to get faster at dropping them. I have a handicapped lovebird who is so splay legged she cannot walk. She is super cage aggressive and I have to be super stealthy at reaching in and grabbing her food/water dishes to be cleaned and filled again. Guess Gabby will make me even quicker with Angeli the lovebird.

  monkey would love it at your house :p She gets 2 treats a day, one when i wake up, one after dinner.

  Mine only get 2 a day too,(as craisins and raisins are quite sugary).
  I actually tear the craisin in halves or thirds so I can give them more without really giving them more.

  I’ll cut back to just 2-3 a day since they’re so sugary. She gets so excited when I shake their little bag they come in.

  Yup, that’s one trick that all bunnies know – they come running when they hear the treat bag!
